Using Cantora during the teacher beta.

Cantora provides speaking practice for AQA GCSE Spanish. These terms apply to the teachers and students taking part in our beta.

The beta is for teachers with a Cantora account and their students. Cantora is designed for GCSE learners, usually aged 14 to 16, and is not for children under 13.

For teachers

  • Use your own teacher account and keep your account details private.
  • Share homework links only with your own classes, and do not post them publicly.
  • Read the Privacy Policy before setting speaking homework, and discuss alternatives with students who have concerns about recording their voice.

Automated marks and feedback support practice and should be used alongside your professional judgement. They are not moderated exam results or predicted grades.

For students

  • Use the homework link your teacher gives you. You do not need an account.
  • Submit your own answers and recordings.
  • Keep answers and comments relevant to the activity. Do not submit abusive or threatening content.

Cantora withholds feedback on answers it flags as abusive. For homework, the teacher who set the activity can see that an answer was flagged.

For everyone

Do not try to access another person’s account or work, disrupt the service or bypass its access restrictions. Do not use bots or scripts to complete activities or send bulk requests. This does not prevent the use of assistive technology.

During the beta

We may update activities or temporarily interrupt the service to make improvements, carry out maintenance or resolve technical issues. We cannot guarantee uninterrupted access or that every automated mark or piece of feedback will be correct.

If we need to withdraw a feature or end the beta, we will give participating teachers reasonable notice where possible. We may need to act sooner to address a security issue or meet a legal requirement.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights under applicable law or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

Leaving the beta

Teachers can stop using Cantora at any time and can delete homework from their dashboard. Deleting an assignment removes its associated student attempts.

To close a teacher account and delete its homework and associated attempts, contact privacy@cantora.co.uk. Other information is covered by the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or end access if these terms are breached, if necessary to protect the service or its users, or if the beta ends. We will explain the reason to the teacher concerned and give notice where possible.
